Will it attached to the gravel or i need the piece of wood?? Will it be ok if i attache it w/ a rubber band to a lil rock so it could attached faster?
Will the java moss grow if i just plant it in my fish tank gravel?
It wont need a piece of wood, but while placing it on the gravel, support it with some piece of rocks so that its not displaced from the gravel due to the flow of water.. leave it like that, it will take roots on the gravel..
Reply:It will attach to the gravel, but this usually requires it to be burried in it. Burring Java Moss causes it to rot, which isn't good. You will never get a good carpet with it unless you rigorously trim it back, as it tends to grow towards the light instead of along the substrate. If you attach it to a rock or driftwood with a rubberband, it will grow upward and outward (not downard), so be sure to place it near the base of the rock/wood and let it fill in upwards.
Reply:it will have trouble growing in the gravel so wont keep anchored. it need light to grow and the part buried in the gravel get no light and therefore die off. although it may grasp small pieces of gravel just like a rock, it doesnt put down roots and so will grow upwards and outwards and not on the substrate. its more natural for it to grasp on to rocks and wood, etc, you can tie it in place with swine, cotton or rubber bands di

They have been able to answer all questions moss related for me. They even have a nice do it your self section for some projects with moss. Love the "moss lawn" idea that they have. Made a grea foreground for my planted crystal red shrimp tank!
Good Luck!
Reply:Perfect website that will give you exact way to grow it with maximum potential. http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Plant,%20Jav...
You can attach a rubber band but I would not. It will grow fine without it.
