Which books should I follow to learn Java on my own?

I want to learn Java but I am not going to attend any classes for that. Which books should I follow?

One person recommended me 'Problem Solving with Java', 2nd Edition, by Elliot B. Koffman and Ursula Woltz

Are there some other books also which are worth following?

Begginning Programming with Java, by Barry Burd.

It helped me a lot.
Reply:In the last 2 years I have worked with the Java language as part of my undergraduate degree. In this time I have never read a full book.

I don't know if you are familiar with the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) style, but if you are anything like me then PBL is a really good way. Basically I have looked at a few online resources to get a grip on Java and then jumped straight in. I meet a problem and then I look it up on the internet. I haven't paid a single penny on a book to learn it, but I would recommend some reading before you start.

I have recently completed my final year studies at university and I will include my main sources in the box below. I should say that when you learn how to read the java.sun.com tutorials then the world's your oyster, but until then have a look at some of the links below.
