What is the best substrate that supports java moss?

I have a 16 gallon tank with a pair of breeding kribensis.

What is the best substrate that supports java moss?
Wood, by far.

Use wood from an aquarium supply store to avoid adding other nasties to your tank. You can attach the moss with a rubber band or two at first. These can later be cut off when your moss has attached.

The tannins from the wood will be beneficial for your kribs, too.
Reply:Java Moss does not need substrate. I dropped a bunch in a bare tank where I had some swordtails and in about a year, they grew until they covered the entire floor space of a 5x2x2 foot tank about 10cm thick!

If you have a strong filter, the most common material would be a piece of driftwood. I don;t like driftwood because most of the time, they stain the color of the water. I prefer some flat rocks.
Reply:What isnt'! it's fast growing and will attach it's self to ANYTHING! I personally would use a nice piece of driftwood. so if it does get outta control you can give it a hair cut so to speak. Otherwise, something different hang it from a little chunk of natural corkbark, so that it hangs down like Spanish Moss. This plant is only stopped by your imagination.
